Oh My Stars

This weekend I worked on some Oh My Stars! quilt blocks.  It is funny working with solids.  I do miss the patterns and the pretty colors of prints.

These are the pinkish colors that I have done so far.  I have some orange colors too.  My plan was to go with just these types of colors but I may get super bored and have to add some teal!!!

Tomorrow is my daughter's first soccer game.  It is in Anchorage so I plan to drive up there and watch.  I might just leave a bit early and stop by my favorite quilt shop too!!
Then next week starts the "crazy soccer schedule".  Games everyday except Sunday for two weeks.  Then Regions and then State.  It is all over in one month.  So, I might be a bit scarce during that time.

I am just about ready to frog my Color Affection shawl.  I am having the hardest time picking out the next color.  I was thinking of ripping it out and starting over with different colors.  ????

I was trying out all sorts of different colors to see what would look best.

I have some time before I make the dinner, (homemade pizza, dough is all ready).  Sewing time for me!!!

Last Swap Block

I finished up my last swap block and got it in the mail today. Beth wanted a cream and white block.  Jealous, I have always wanted one of those too, but I have The Dog.

This is the Love in a Mist pattern.  I would love to try this in colors too!

And since I mentioned The Dog, I have a funny picture of him.  He was going to the groomers this day and I think it was stressing him out.  He was asleep.  Dead asleep.  It took me forever to wake him.  Then he had a sneezing fit.

Not Quite Finished....

The laundry room is progressing.  It still needs a few things.  A sink for one.  The sink that I fell in love with was about $140, same as the utility sinks.  I was so excited.  Then I saw that the pedestal was another $180.  Wow, that is a bit spendy for a laundry room sink.  I will have to look around for another option.

Hubby scrubbing the floor.

Floor is done.  Boy, was that stinky!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Super messy, but you can see that it is getting better!
Look at that, I am airing my dirty laundry!!!

 Need to finish those cabinets.

Messy!!!!
The blue is a bit deeper than the pictures show.  We have been having a lot of sun and it makes it look washed out.  But it is so much brighter in there!  Before it was a muddy pink.  yuk!

Next up will be the storage room.  I'm painting it this color, called Innocence.  Yup, muddy pink walls again.  And the blinds were that mauve color.

I have to get some laundry done today or we will all be going naked.  Tonight I hope to finish the cabinets in the laundry room.

Retro Kitchen Swoon

This is more of Kate Spain's Terrain.  I am still in love with this fabric.
I have been using more of the pinks and purples.  Since I made this block I need to use more of the orange, or else make this one into a pillow. (I think I double checked this block for mistakes 20 times.)

It has been an unusually warm April and the snow is melting like crazy.

Anyone ever snow blow slush????

Oops.  Stuck in a hole.  I was getting impossible to get out of our driveway.

And a quickie Prom update.  Everything went great.  I am still super tired from staying up til 3 am and so is the kid.  She looked great!  All the kids did, it is amazing how grown up they all look for one night.

I would post a picture of her and her date and some of their friends but I feel a bit strange posting pictures of other people's children.  So I will just say, the rest of the kids looked awesome.

I am still working away on my laundry room.  The washer and dryer are back in place and I am finishing up the last touches of paint.  Hubby goes back to work tomorrow so any of the hard stuff will have to wait until he gets back home.
It looks so bright and cheery in there!!!

Ok, time to go to the gym.  Happy Crafting!!!

Mostly Food

For Easter we went over to a friend's house.  Of course, I just had to make a few things!  That is the fun part.

First, I got my rolls started.  These were a big hit!

And I saw these little guys on Pinterest and had to try.  I don't know how the other people got theirs to stay up cause mine kept falling over!

Press and seal and an egg carton to the rescue!!

Dark Rum Brownies and Mini Pecan Tarts.  I could eat all those Tarts by myself!!

A quickie update on my Color Affection Shawl.  The Summer Punch color did not show up enough for my liking.  You can kind of see the little bit of pink in the orange, but it didn't show up like a stripe, so I switched to the darker Sweet Pea.  It shows up much better.  Now I have to decide on the ending color, again!!!!!

My daughter's soccer game was cancelled for today.  Still too much snow.  I am glad though, because the game was 3 hours away and they wouldn't have made it home til 12:30 or so.  Since Prom is Saturday, she and her teammates would have had to be to first hour on Friday.  Yuck!!  And I have to be at work at 4:30am.

I have some rare moments of home alone time so I am working on another Swoon block.  I am more than half-way done!!

Swappin'

I made two more swap blocks.  These were made while watching Mad Men.  Can you believe I haven't ever seen that show before??

This is Two Colors Star from Fresh Lemons.  I love all her star blocks.

This one is Plaid Star from the Thought and Sound blog.
Every one of my swap blocks have been stars!!    I see a few star quilts in my future.  I want to make every block that I made for the swappers for myself!
I have the next and last block cut out, just waiting for time to sew it together.  She requested creams and whites.
This is my month to receive blocks and I already have one here!  So much fun!  After I get them all I will take a picture or two.

We are going to Easter dinner at a friends.  I don't have to cook the whole meal!  It is going to be untraditional and we are having southern foods.  I am going to make some cornbread and make mini pecan pies.  And maybe some of these brownies I saw a recipe for yesterday!

Time to get ready to go get my hair cut and make one last little trip to the store.  And would someone please make it stop snowing?????

Happy Crafting!!!

Farming in the Sun

Hello all!  We have been having some beautiful sun lately.  My back deck is almost free of snow!!  Our road is awful.  It feels like bumper cars driving down the road.  Awful!!!!  Melt, melt!

I made a few more Farmer's Wife blocks too.

#56  Maple Leaf

I made it green cause it was green in the book, but now I am thinking, it should have been red.  It was an easy block so when I chose my extras to do, maybe this will be one, AND in red!

#57 Morning

This one is nice and springy.  Just what I am wanting lately.

I also finished a cute little monster.  She is going to go live with one of my Ravelry friends.

Last night I cast on for Color Affection in these colors....

The yummy colors are from Sunshine Yarns in Classic.  More spring colors!!
I think this will be a pretty easy knit.  I finished half of the first section last night.  I used the one on the left for my first section.

Happy Crafting and Happy Spring???
